EAT OUT: “Guacuco Arepera” Venezuelan eatery in Bushwick, New York

Arepera Guacuco”, Bushwick’s Venezuelan spot for arepas, empanadas, juices, and drinks. My Venezuelan friends Daniela and Ed, took us here on our last visit to New York and OMG what a discovery we made. This place is the best Venezuelan I have tried in many cities. She is Venezuelan and even says it’s amazing! For C it was his first time and he loved it, still today thinks about it and reminds me that we need to go back on our next visit.

Guacuco started just a few years back as a family affair. Chef Carmen and her son Leonardo Molina brought some of the best Caribbean Cuisine from Venezuela’s Margarita Island right to the heart of Bushwick’s.

Arepitas fritas de Halley con queso

PERNIL, pulled juicy pork shoulder with spices and cheddar cheese.

PARRILLADA, grilled slices of steak with chicken, onions & peppers.

TEQUEÑOS, Venezuelan style cheese sticks made with wheat flour.

TAJADAS sweet plantains with aged cheese.

Tostones, fried green plantains with cheese.

PABELLON CRIOLLO, Venezuelan national dish shredded beef, white rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains, sprinkled with salty cheese with plain arepa.

The best idea is to come with a bunch of people so you can order almost everything and try a bit of all. The starters are to die for, the drinks are natural juices, the passion fruit one was incredible. and the arepas are just perfect, moist and tasty.
